But I can say with certainty if someone were to knock on your door and you asked, “Who’s there,” the answer won’t be, “It’s the IRS!” That’s right,” he explains, “the days of being terrified that the IRS is going to show up on your unannounced is over. Here’s why as posted at Accountingtoday.com, in a statement from the IRS: “The Internal Revenue Service is stopping most unannounced visits to taxpayers’ residences and businesses by its revenue officers after a rising number of threats has put its employees’ safety at risk.” Apparently, taxpayers who are not on the IRS’s good side are getting in touch with their violent side!

According to Willis, “There is an exception to this new rule.” He expounds, “If you are being investigated for criminal tax evasion or other criminal offenses, someone from the IRS could show up at your door or place of business unannounced.”
