Estate & Asset Protection Attorney, Victoria Collier speaks to parents encouraging them to make sure their wills designate guardianship and financial care in the event that both parents come to an untimely demise.
DECATUR, GA, October 11, 2018: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new blog on her law firm’s website entitled “Taking Care Of Your Children If Something Happens To You.” Ms. Collier, as an estate planning attorney and a parent, makes it her business to ask her clients all the difficult questions.
Collier explains, “As an estate planning and asset protection attorney, it is my duty to help my clients cover all the bases when they come to me to create a long-term, comprehensive plan.” She continues adding, “One topic that many people forget to include when discussing assets is how their children will be cared for in the event that something tragic happens to both biological parents. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes couples do die together in tragic automobile accidents, plane crashes and other unforeseen events.”
According to Collier, “A will is an important part of any long-term estate plan and I always bring up this topic to my clients because it is so often overlooked.” She further elaborates, “Not only does guardianship need to be covered in your will, but how assets will be distributed or used to provide care for your child or children in such an event.”
