The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm Founder, Victoria L Collier, Brings Awareness To The Need For Discussions About Death By Suicide

Estate & Asset Protection Attorney, Victoria Collier talks about the importance of discussing life and death as well as the controversial topic of death by suicide in order to affect change.

DECATUR, GA, September 11, 2019: Victoria L. Collier, founder of The Estate & Asset Protection Law Firm, has posted a new blog on her law firm’s website entitled “September Is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month,” in which Ms. Collier shares a personal experience of a loved one’s suicide.

Victoria Collier“While death is a difficult topic for most people,” writes Collier, “death by suicide is even more difficult and highly controversial.” She continues, “However, it is a topic that is close to my heart. My mother committed suicide when I was 6-years old.” Collier elaborates, “I barely knew her, but I knew enough to recognize that she was struggling. She had bipolar disorder long before it was fully understood and recognized and before adequate treatment was available.”

Collier writes, “I am in total agreement with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) which states, “While suicide prevention is important to address year-round, Suicide Prevention Awareness Month provides a dedicated time to come together with collective passion and strength around a difficult topic. The truth is, we can all benefit from honest conversations about mental health conditions and suicide, because just one conversation can change a life.”
