TeamKattouf Client Ashley Loging Selected For MORE Magazine Feature
Ashley Loging, one of Dr. Rick Kattouf’s TeamKattouf Coaching clients, was recently featured in a metabolism makeover article in MORE Magazine.
Greenville, SC – May 17, 2013 – Dr. Rick Kattouf II is proud to announce that TeamKattouf client Ashley Loging was chosen as one of four women to be featured in an article in MORE Magazine. The article, written by Shelley Levitt, is titled “4 Ways to Make Over Your Metabolism.” The article showcases how four women “turned back the clock” and defied the research that shows that most women’s metabolism slows down by 2 to 4 percent during their twenties.

According to experts, Loging was trapped in a doomed war with her metabolism. Skipping meals frequently puts your body into preservation mode, so it’s likelier to store calories as fat than to burn them, says Joy Dobust, PhD, RD, a Washington, D.C., nutritionist and a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Loging found a better strategy four years ago, when she signed up with Rick Kattouf, a fitness and nutrition coach who was training her husband for a triathlon. Kattouf changed Loging’s regimen radically. He slashed her cardio sessions to 30 minutes a day and added 30 to 40 minutes of weight training six days a week.
Building muscle through strength training is the only reliable way to kick up your basal metabolism (the energy required to keep your body functioning while at rest). But to achieve this, you need to work out consistently and strenuously.
“It has been a true pleasure to have the opportunity to work with Ashley. Prior to us working together, Ashley was working out very hard, up to 2 hours per day; and she was starving her body by only consuming approximately 1000 cal per day,” said Dr. Kattouf.
“Understandably, Ashley’s frustration continued to grow since she was working out so much, eating very little, and still not seeing any results in terms of body composition change. I helped Ashley start to move her body composition in the right direction by significantly decreasing the time of her cardiovascular training, reduce the intensity of her cardiovascular training by having her workout in the proper heart rate zones; and one of the biggest workout changes I implemented was a very heavy emphasis on strength training,” he continued. “In addition, I significantly increased Ashley’s eating frequency and total calories. It was this combination that enabled Ashley to rev up her metabolism, build lean muscle and burn body fat. These pictures say it all… Ashley went from 190 pounds to a lean and healthy 135 pounds!”
