St. Andrews Country Club of Boca Raton Members Team Up with Morgan Pressel to Raise $502,000 to Fight Breast Cancer
St. Andrews Country Club Hosts the 4th Annual Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament
(January 12, 2011) Boca Raton, FL — The state-of-the-art Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan purchased in 2009 through the fundraising efforts of St. Andrews Country Club members has tested more than 1,000 women in Palm Beach County, 875 of who had never had a mammogram. With much of the $502,000 raised this year, the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan will continue to provide affordable and convenient access to mammograms as well as clinical breast exams and breast health education.
On January 4 and 5, St. Andrews Country Club of Boca Raton members teamed up with LPGA Tour player and St. Andrews Resident Touring Professional, Morgan Pressel and raised $502,000 through the 4th Annual ‘Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer’ Tournament to help fight breast cancer through early detection and treatment. In their fourth year of hosting the event, the membership has raised $1.7 million, with net proceeds benefitting the Morgan Pressel Foundation which supports the Boca Raton Regional Hospital and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
“Each year my fellow members continue to amaze me with their generosity and goodwill towards the general community,” stated Morgan Pressel. “I would like to thank the Morgan & Friends Committee, the St. Andrews Country Club Members and all of the event sponsors. With their support and dedication each year the Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament grows bigger and better than the last.”
Tour professionals in the Fourth Annual Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament included founder, Morgan Pressel, and her fellow tour professionals, Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, Angela Stanford, Rickie Fowler and Dave Stockton, who kicked off a Tuesday night reception with over 350 St. Andrews Country Club members, sponsors and guests.
On January 5, foursomes played nine holes with one of the professional golfers and event attendees enjoyed a short game exhibition led by Dave Stockton, world renowned putting teacher, which followed morning play.
Roy Schwedelson, President, Board of Governors for St. Andrews Country Club added, “The St. Andrews Country Club membership is proud to support Morgan in her efforts to ensure every woman has the opportunity for an affordable mammogram to help detect breast cancer in its earliest stage. It isn’t often you encounter someone of Morgan’s age with such drive and determination who has developed a foundation and successful tournament to benefit her cause.”
“We congratulate Morgan and all the members at St. Andrews Country Club for putting together a first-class golf tournament and fund raising effort,” said Craig Martin, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager at St. Andrews Country Club. “The Club was proud to host the 4th Annual Event and we all look forward to hosting the event next year.”
