As an English and journalism major at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Sandra studied stories—what makes the great ones great, how to find them, and how to share them in powerful ways that make a difference in the world.

Eventually, Sandra earned two degrees in journalism—a bachelor’s from UNC and a master’s from Syracuse University. By then she’d already written hundreds of stories for newspapers and magazines.
