Renowned Plattsburgh Dental Practice Says Baby Bottles Are a Ticking Time Bomb for Pediatric Oral Health

Dr. William P. Caldon, D.M.D., owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental, discusses the dental risks posed by giving children sugary drinks in bottles or sugar-coated pacifiers.

Plattsburgh, NY — March 11, 2015 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new article entitled “Baby Bottles: A Tooth Decay Time Bomb.” In the article, he explains that when children’s teeth are exposed to sugary beverages over long periods of time, they risk “baby bottle tooth decay,” a pediatric oral disease that can have life-long repercussions.

Says Caldon, “When it comes to young children, many parents fail to recognize that it’s as important to care for baby teeth as it is to care for permanent teeth. One of the worst — and sadly, most common — mistakes new parents make is not knowing how to properly feed children with their baby bottles. The fact of the matter is that baby teeth are every bit as susceptible to dental caries, or cavities, as adult teeth.”

Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013, USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
