Orlando DOT Physicals Provider and Workflow Employer Services Owner Dr. Brad Levine Publishes New Article Examining the Issue of Weight and Whether or Not It Effects Ability to Pass DOT Physicals

Dr. Brad Levine, Orlando Chiropractor and owner at Workflow Employer Services releases new article about weight issues and passing DOT physicals.

Altamonte Springs, FL — October 29, 2016 — Workflow Employer Services owner and Orlando area chiropractor Dr. Brad Levine recently published a new article on his website “Can Overweight Drivers Pass DOT Physicals?”

In the article, DOT physicals provider Dr. Brad Levine starts off by recapping a previous court case on weight discrimination and subjective DOT physicals results. He summarizes that in most of these DOT physicals related cases, the judge ruled in the plaintiff’s favor if the provider failed the driver based on weight only.

He says, “The minimum requirements of passing DOT physicals are actually very specific. A reputable DOT physical provider knows this and should not fail a potential driver if he or she does not show symptoms of any of the other exclusionary conditions or medical situations. Otherwise, this could be considered discrimination.”

If other physical conditions due to weight were also present, Dr. Levine clarifies, that changes things.

He states, “However, that being said, it is important to note being significantly overweight is a risk factor for several medical conditions that can cause failure of DOT physicals.”

Some of those conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. Likewise, Dr. Levine elaborates, it is important to remember that DOT physicals requirements are only one factor to keep in mind. Specific employers can also have their own requirements – such as making sure the weight of the driver does not prevent him or her from carrying out the duties of the job.
