NILO A. HERNANDEZ, JR., DDS, DICOI, OWNER OF SMILECREATOR OF NAPLES HELPS PEOPLE GET THE SMILES THEY LOVE IN A HURRY.
Nilo Hernandez, Jr., DDS, DICOI, best-selling co-author of the book, The Will To Win, with Brian Tracy, and owner of the Smilecreator of Naples, briefly reviews the history of braces and elaborates on how the process of aligning teeth is finally fast enough for the needs and desires of an impatient society.
Naples, FL, Januarys 31, 2021: Owner and CEO of Smilecreator of Naples, Dr. Nilo Hernandez, Jr., DDS, has posted a new article on his website entitled, “When It Comes To Getting The Smile You Love, Faster Is Better.” Dr. Hernandez tells readers that today the perfect alignment of teeth can be achieved faster than ever before.
Dr. Hernandez poses a question, “How many times have we been told that “patience is a virtue?” He goes on to surmise, “Probably more times than we care to remember.” He continues, “We’ve also heard, “slow down, you’re moving too fast,” “nice and easy does it,” and so many other phrases that indicate it doesn’t pay to be in a hurry. However,” writes Dr. Hernandez, “as impatient as we typically prefer to be, don’t you just love the results when, for instance, you sit down to enjoy a slow and lovingly cooked meal versus ordering and gulping down fast food? The fact is, though, that we live in a society where we want things to happen at the rate we want them to, we want what we want when we want it. I see this impatience often in my practice when I recommend that braces could improve a patient’s oral health and/or their smile. One of the first questions is, ‘How long does it take?’”
According to Dr. Hernandez, “In the past, depending on the condition of a patient’s teeth and oral cavity, a regiment of braces might have been anywhere from 6 months to two years or longer. Regular metal braces were the norm until 1997 when Invisalign was FDA approved and came to market.” He states, “That was a real game-changer.” He goes on to add, “And, while Invisalign is extremely popular and has made it possible for people of all ages to correct their smiles so much more comfortably, the process is still too slow for some people. Some patients forget to wear the retainers or get bored with the routine of taking them off and on throughout the day to eat and then, having to floss and brush after every eating event. Some people also lose their retainers and just decide not to continue treatment.”
Dr. Hernandez turns his attention to a new process, writing, “For the past few years, I have been using, with great success, what is known as The MOPs Effect, which stands for Micro Osteo Perforation under the brand name of Propel®.” He goes on to say, “I wrote about this process in last month’s article, however it bears repeating because many people are taking advantage of this “mask-up” time to investigate how braces can help them get the smile they would love to have.” He explains, “The MOPs Effect is a university developed and FDA cleared technique that is used to accelerate the rate of orthodontic tooth movement in conjunction with braces and/or Invisalign. Micro means extremely small. Osteo relates to the bones. And perforation relates to a small hole made by boring or piercing.”
