New York Dental Practice Shares Expert Tips to Stop Teeth Grinding

Dr. William P. Caldon, D.M.D., co-owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental, offers help for those who grind, clench and grit their teeth.

Plattsburgh, NY — May 24, 2016 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new blog post entitled “How to Stop Grinding Your Teeth: 6 Expert Tips.” In the post, he shares the damage grinding can do and tips to help you minimize the damage to your mouth, teeth and jaw.

Dr. William CaldonSays Caldon, “It’s very common to grind and clench your teeth from time to time in response to stress, anxiety and anger. If it only happens occasionally, teeth grinding, also called bruxism, shouldn’t cause any harm to your teeth. But if you grind your teeth on a regular basis, it can damage your teeth and cause jaw problems and other oral health issues. It can be hard to tell if you grind your teeth every day, because regular grinding often happens during sleep. If you wake up with a dull headache or aching jaw, these can be signs that you’re grinding. A dentist can also examine your mouth and teeth for signs of bruxism, like chips, cracks and excessive wear patterns on certain teeth.”

Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the

United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013, USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
