New York Dental Practice Says The Dental Drill Isn’t Scary, But Tooth Decay Is
Dr. William P. Caldon, D.M.D., co-owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental, shows readers why they don’t need to worry about pain caused by routine dental drilling and how to make a cavity-filling appointment more comfortable.
Plattsburgh, NY — May 11, 2015 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new article entitled “Just How Painful Is Drilling?” In the article, he explains that with proper numbing, dental drilling is an effective, low-pain way of removing dangerous tooth decay from dental enamel, a procedure that prevents dangerous oral disease down the road.
Says Caldon, “If you have to undergo a procedure involving the drill, don’t let the media hype make you anxious. With today’s equipment and anesthetics, the drill is truly nothing to worry about. Start an open dialogue with your dentist about your concerns. Arrange to test out the effectiveness of the numbing product before the dentist uses the drill. Ask for more anesthetic if you feel it wearing off. And most of all, don’t let sensationalistic stories prevent you from getting the important dental care you need.”
Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013, USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
