Milwaukee Area Dentist Tony Cigno Publishes New Article Sharing Ways to Relieve Pain Caused by Braces Tightening

Milwaukee area dentist Dr. Tony Cigno shares ways to relieve pain after getting braces tightened.

Greenfield, WI — July 20, 2017 — Wisconsin Dentist Tony Cigno recently published an article titled, “8 Ways to Beat the Pain from Getting Braces Tightened.”

Dr. Tony CignoAs Dr. Cigno states, there are many reasons to love braces. After all, braces do wonders for straightening the teeth and fixing bite problems. Yet, as Dr. Cigno elaborates, “The reason braces work is because they move and shift the teeth. This is usually done through tightening or adjusting traditional braces, or via a new aligner with Invisalign.

Dr. Cigno goes on to explain, “In both cases, the key is that each time tooth movement occurs and teeth shift positions in the mouth.”

The good news, however, adds Dr. Cigno, is that there are several easy ways to combat pain caused by braces tightening or new aligners.

The first of these includes drinking something cold. This can numb the gums and minimize pain-causing inflammation. Even better, it works very quickly as well.

Likewise, eating cold foods helps too—also reducing inflammation. This is also why, Dr. Cigno says, over-the-counter medicines that treat inflammation work good too.

Other remedies he shares in the article include putting something cold against the outside of the jaw, swishing some salt in the mouth, and falling back on soft (or softer) foods for a bit. He also reminds that there are oral rinses and gels specifically designed to help reduce mouth pain, as well as specific products that create a dental barrier.
