Cambridge, MA – March 3, 2020 – Kemsley Academy founder, Mark Kemsley, has recently joined Emmy® Award Winning Director, Nick Nanton, in the filming of It’s Happening Right Here, a new documentary that sheds light and awareness on the more than 300,000 American minors being lured into the sex trade every year.

Mark Kemsley joined the Emmy® Award Winning DNA Films crew for a day of principle filming in San Diego in late January. He had previously worked with Nanton and the crew, producing the film The Soul of Success: The Jack Canfield Story.

During the January filming, Kemsley was on set for Nanton’s interview with Tim Ballard, the founder of Operation Underground Railroad. Ballard and his organization will be highlighted in the film for their work in fighting trafficking, specifically in cases that involve women and children being brought into the U.S. from other countries.

Kemsley then joined the film crew for a behind-the-scenes tour of San Diego’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The Task Force Commander spoke with producers about cases involving minors who are trafficked online and through social media. The crew filmed as an investigator with San Diego ICAC gave Kemsley and his fellow producers a demonstration with one of the K-9s the task force uses for detection of electronic devices that store child pornography.

The interviews with Ballard and San Diego ICAC investigators will serve as two elements in this film which aims to give an overall view of the many ways trafficking is happening here in the U.S.

Coming Fall 2020, It’s Happening Right Here follows the men and women who have joined together to make it their mission to rescue the millions of women, men, and children trapped in sex trafficking and make a difference in the lives of victims of this trade that is happening right here in our own backyards, in America.

About Mark Kemsley

Mark Kemsley spent twenty years in Greater China. Based in Hong Kong, managing the Asian operations of an American corporation, he logged over 1300 flights and worked with people from all levels of industry and government throughout the region.

Later as a business consultant, Kemsley was highly sought after as a speaker and trainer in Asia, accumulating over 100 hours on stage, presenting in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Over the course of his career, Kemsley has appeared on a dozen television programs and trained thousands of people. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious Expy® Award for excellence in public speaking.

Together with Jack Canfield, Kemsley co-authored best selling book The Soul of Success, Vol. 2, which led to him producing the Emmy® nominated documentary The Soul of Success: The Jack Canfield Story.

After running language-training centers and summer camps in China for many years, Kemsley bought a 15-acre school campus in Massachusetts, where Kemsley Academy hosts international students in short-term educational programs. In 2017, Kemsley Academy opened an American-style boarding school in Beijing.

Mark Kemsley has been an avid supporter of Operation Underground Railroad for the past few years, and is excited to be Executive Producer of It Happens Right Here, helping to raise awareness of human trafficking in the United States.
