Barbershop Franchise, Kennedy’s All-American Barber Club®, Serves Only American-Made Beer
Kennedy’s All-American Barber Club®, an upscale men’s barbershop franchise, is assuring its members that they exclusively and proudly serve American-made beers.
Orlando, Fla. – July 31, 2009 – In light of the recent “Beer Summit” hosted at the White House on July 30th by President Barrack Obama with Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., Sgt. James Crowley and Vice-President Joe Biden, Kennedy’s All-American Barber Club® was disappointed to hear that no American-made beers would be served.
In a recent Wall Street Journal article, Robert Tomsho wrote,
“White House spokesman Robert Gibbs hinted the presidential cooler will likely be stocked with what he understood to be the two guests’ own personal favorites — Red Stripe and Blue Moon. ‘The president will drink Bud Light,’ Mr. Gibbs added. The problem is that all three beers are products of foreign companies.”
Kennedy’s All-American Barber Club® CEO, Chris Hurn, said, “We wanted to take the opportunity to assure our members and the communities that only American-made beers will ever be offered at our barber clubs. Currently, we are giving away Samuel Adams to our members, but as we grow, we would love to incorporate other local, American brews.”
Kennedy’s is not the only American business that found this to be somewhat disturbing. In a recent article by POLITICO called “Beer brewers beg for White House berth,” the author, Patrick Gavin quoted two prominent American-owned and American-made beer companies, Yuengling® and Sierra Nevada®. The following statements were given:
“Yuengling® is proud to be recognized as America’s Oldest Brewery,” a company spokesman told POLITICO. “Family owned and operated since 1829, we’ve been a part of conflict resolution for over 180 years!”
A representative for Sierra Nevada® said: “We believe that we are the perfect fit for the matter at hand, and a great choice to represent and facilitate the resilience and understanding of the American people. Sierra Nevada® [can] reinforce the idea that whether black or white, rich or poor, we are all first and foremost Americans. American citizens should support American beer.”
