I Am a Force4Good Founder, Brenda Schubach Calls for The Protection of Children From Sex Traffickers

Founder and Executive Director of the human-interest organization “I Am a Force4Good®”, Brenda Schubach sheds light on the issue of human sex trafficking of children in America which is being called “the human rights cause of our time.”

MILWAUKEE, WI – February 10, 2015 – Brenda Schubach, Founder and Executive Director of I Am a Force4Good, a human interest company creating opportunities for women around the world recently posted a new blog on her website entitled, “Ignorance is Not Innocence.” Just like ignorance of the law does not make one innocent when they break the law, ignorance of what is going on all around us is does not mean we are innocent just because we choose to keep our heads in the sand. And, as Schubach writes in her current blog, “When it comes to the abduction of children and forcing them into slavery by sex traffickers, we can no longer keep our heads in the sand and claim ignorance.”

Schubach claims, “The innocence of children is at stake. Humanity is at risk. It’s time to wake up to this issue. It’s time to take a stance.” Shubach continues, “Children around the world are targets of these heinous criminals. Sex trafficking of children in the U.S. is growing by leaps and bounds.”

She gives a glimpse of the magnitude of the issue citing a recent Time Magazine article which states, “An estimated 100,000 to 300,000 American children are at risk of becoming child sex trafficking victims every year, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.”(www.ime.com/3684506/congress-human-trafficking) And, “Bills on the issue of human trafficking have been introduced in the Senate, including a bill from Sens. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) called the Combat Human Trafficking Act, aimed at those who engage in sex acts with victims of trafficking. The bill, introduced Jan. 8, would also ramp up law enforcement efforts to investigate and prosecute buyers and increase victim services. In a statement to TIME, Sen. Portman called human trafficking the “human rights cause of our time.”

Schubach states, “Awareness is the first step toward a solution. We are being made aware. We cannot continue allowing children to lose their innocence and be subject to lives of slavery.”
