About Summer Knight, MD, MBA:

As the former Chief Medical Officer of the State of Florida, Dr. Summer Knight worked with the Agency for Health Care Administration influencing Medicaid policy, health care facility regulations, and stakeholder interactions.  Through this experience, Dr. Knight saw an opportunity to increase health care quality and stakeholder communication while abolishing fraud, so she started her first company called IntegriCor, which stood for “Integrity Corporation.”  Within years, this technology became the leading platform for long-term care integrity in several state markets.

In addition to her corporate duties, Dr. Knight is involved with several key professional organizations. She founded the State Government Physician Leadership Council and was appointed by the Governor to the Florida Cancer Control and Research Advisory Committee. She also has served on the boards of the Florida Dialogue on Cancer Access Committee; the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Capital Health Plan; and both the Quality Practice Management Committee and the Governmental Affairs Committee with the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. She values her many speaking opportunities, which include Medicaid Management Information System and Home and Community Based Services national meetings, the Council of State Government for Disease Management in Washington, DC, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida College of Emergency Physicians, and the Florida Medical Directors Association.

Dr. Knight is active in the community.  She serves as a college Trustee.  She is a member of a community Leadership organization, founder member of Oasis Center for Woman and Girls, served locally on the board of Big Brother Big Sister, and the Advisory Committee of Tallahassee Community College Florida Scholarship Achievement.  She has served as Secretary and Sub-Committee Chair for the Gilchrist Elementary School Advisory Committee, and received the Outstanding School Volunteer Award from the school’s PTA during the 2008 school year. She has also volunteered with organizations such as Cornerstone Learning Center, Refuge House, and the Governor’s Mentoring Initiative.

Dr. Knight received her M.D. from the University of Illinois at Chicago and her MBA from Warrington College of Business at the University of Gainesville.  She has gained valuable medical experience as a family physician, urgent care, Emergency Room physician, and a former firefighter/ paramedic.
