CALGARY, ALBERTA – May 5, 2011- Dawn McIntyre, founder and CEO of Boldly Beautiful® International, a self esteem, confidence building and spiritual growth company, recently published an article on her website, www.boldlybeautiful.com that encourages us to actively pursue compassionate lives of focusing on the needs of others, rather than only serving ourselves. The article, titled “Compassion is in Fashion,” suggests that parents can help their pre-teenagers and teenagers become aware of the need in their own community for love and compassion to be shared with those who need it most.

Dawn writes, “Regardless of which way you feel (whether compassion and serving others comes easily or not), having sympathy for others can be a choice that you choose to make… I cannot help thinking of a family that I know who has a pre-teenager. Since starting middle school, this sweet girl has transformed from someone with childlike wonder, into a young lady who is more concerned with the flavor of her lip gloss than the status of her class grades in school. Now, don’t get me wrong. I love young kids, and not all 12 year olds go through this phase, but stick with me… How can we foster hearts of compassion in our youngsters, when their primary interest lies in getting the coolest toy on the market and fitting in with the popular crowd at school?”

“Every child is different… But, having raised one of my own, I can say that compassion – when not already developed in your child – can be a learned trait… Compassion and serving others go hand in hand. In fact, there’s a relationship of causality.
