Founder and CEO of Auer Tax Group, author and Premier Tax Expert, David Auer reminds readers that May is Older Americans Month and encourages everyone to honor  family elders and using the month to discuss their financial safety.

Tulsa, OK – June 6, 2016 – David Auer, recognized Premier Tax Expert and Founder/CEO of Auer Tax Group posted a new blog on the company website entitled “Paying Tribute to Our Elders and Helping to Ensure Their Financial Safety.”  Mr. Auer provides a brief history and ways to help senior citizens.

Auer writes, “In 1963, President Kennedy issued a Presidential proclamation designating May as Senior Citizen’s Month encouraging the nation to pay tribute in some way to older people across the country.” He elaborates further, “Subsequently the name was changed to Older Americans Month (OAM). In 1965 Congress passed The Older Americans Act (OAA) in response to concern by policymakers about a lack of community social services for older persons.” Auer continues adding, “Just this past April, The “Older Americans Act Reauthorization Act of 2016” was signed into law.  This means now is the perfect time to talk to your family elders about financial safety.”

Auer encourages readers to, “Talk to your loved ones about fraud and identity theft which are among the top ten scams reported to the U.S. Senate Aging Committee’s Fraud Hotline.” He also advise to be alert to sweepstakes scams, computer scams and “robocall.”
