Top Carolinas Orthodontic Professional Kerry White Brown Publishes New Article Explaining How Simplifying Your Life May Just be the Key to Happiness

Written by admin on February 17, 2017

Dr. Kerry White Brown, an esteemed Orthodontist with nearly 20 years’ experience, shares how the root of real happiness might be simplifying—being “happy” with less.

Columbia, South Carolina — February 14, 2017 — Carolina Orthodontist Kerry Brown White recently published a new article, “Be Happy with LESS – How Simplifying Can Increase Happiness.”

Dr. White Brown starts the piece by asking, “Do you sometimes feel like your life is just out of control? Or specifically, out of your control?”

“Of course, you do!” she states. She then adds, “We all do.”

Dr. White Brown goes on to reveal that it may be this feeling of helplessness – or lack of control – that gives way to a feeling of unhappiness in our lives. From this vantage point, she then shares ideas on how this can be changed, relatively quickly and easily.

The first tip she provides is to simplify your time by choosing to slow down. She explains, “Often, trying to rush and race through life to save five minutes can add up to a feeling of “craziness” that not only doesn’t help you get more done, but it also becomes counterproductive. This “hurry” all the time adds up to increased stress. And when we are under stress, we don’t perform as well at anything, period. We make mistakes that we have to go back and fix. We forget things that create the need for extra trips, costing extra time.”

On the other hand, she counters, when we choose to slow down, life seems to become calmer. Consequently, because of the improved focus that accompanies calmness, we will likely get more done than when we were rushing.

Furthermore, Dr. White Brown adds, another benefit of our own slowing down is that our kids will almost always slow down too. This is not only better for their health also, but more conducive to your own sanity too.

Other areas she explores where simplification can likely lead to greater happiness include our communication (she advocates something called “conscious communication), our morning routine, our critique of events and others, and even how often we say, “Yes,” (when we want to say, “No.”).
