Speaker, Entrepreneur and 16-year MS Survivor Susan Sly to Run Her Sixth Boston Marathon in Support of The Joe Andruzzi Foundation
Work life balance expert and Multiple Sclerosis survivor Susan Sly will be supporting The Joe Andruzzi Foundation as she heads to Boston on April 18th to run in the Boston Marathon.
Scottsdale, AZ — April 14, 2016 — Best-selling author, speaker, trainer and entrepreneur, Susan Sly is using her sixth run in the Boston Marathon to support the efforts of The Joe Andruzzi Foundation which helps cancer patients and their families meet life’s day-to-day challenges.
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is committed to putting smiles on the faces of those diagnosed with cancer. Joe is himself a true testament to the power of overcoming; he is a cancer survivor.
The will to overcome is something Susan knows personally. In Susan’s words, “In 2000, I went from being an elite triathlete, a business owner, and a local media personality to getting diagnosed with MS, losing my business and ending up sleeping on my brother-in-law’s sofa. Imagine, for a moment, the humiliation of going from someone who people sought for advice to someone who was over $100,000 in debt, a single mom and essentially the person who no one would have pegged for a comeback. Not only did I transcend those tough times, I came back stronger.”

About the Joe Andruzzi Foundation:
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is dedicated to providing financial assistance to patients and families, helping them focus on recovery – not bills. It also funds research at Boston Children’s Hospital, building on the Andruzzis’ longstanding commitment to cutting edge pediatric brain cancer research. In 2003, Joe and Jen founded the C.J. Buckley Cancer Research Fund at Children’s in memory of a young friend who suffered a brain tumor. C.J.’s spirit inspired the Andruzzis to support the innovative work of Dr. Mark Kieran, Director of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Children’s, whose work centers on the molecular nature of pediatric brain tumors, novel therapies and surgical alternatives, with the aim of making treatment more accessible to all. They also strive to keep families positive through the Foundation’s (Up)Beat cancer initiative, organizing outings and visits with New England’s professional athletes. The Foundation believes laughter is the best medicine, and aims to help families forget cancer now and then – through fun, humor and good times.
