Jeffrey T. Jones Warns About Insurance Companies In The Aftermath of Auto Accidents
Personal Injury Lawyer Jeffrey T. Jones explains why you should not count on insurance companies to always tell you the truth when dealing with them after being injured in an auto accident.
Charleston, WV – September 19, 2012 – The harsh reality is that the big, strong and powerful insurance companies often try to force injured parties into accepting a lower settlement for their injuries than they truly deserve. West Virginia Personal Injury Attorney Jeffrey T. Jones recently discussed why having a qualified attorney to help you deal with large insurance companies could keep you from making unnecessary mistakes.
“I know you may find this hard to believe, but insurance companies will try to get you to accept a lesser amount for your injuries than you deserve,” said Charleston, WV attorney Jeffrey T. Jones who has written a Special Report dealing with Car accidents and Insurance Companies. “What you are dealing with is that ‘your good neighbor’ whose ‘on your side’ has his ‘good hands’ in your money pocket.”
Jones, who also wrote the West Virginia Automobile Accident Guide, wants to let you know why you have to watch out for insurance companies and what to do about it:
- Insurance Adjustors are professionals trained to do a job.
- They have more knowledge and experience in that area than the average person.
- If you do it yourself, are you really saving money or costing yourself money?
- How many times have you, or someone you know, tried to do something yourself and screwed it up and then had to pay someone else to fix what you messed up, and then pay them more to do it the right way?
- Isn’t it cheaper and better to hire a professional to do it right to begin with?
- If you screw up your case, odds are no one can fix it for you.
“Here’s an example of what I mean,” said Jones
“You are injured in a car wreck and see a doctor a few times. You miss work, but you feel like you are getting better. So, you call the insurance company and say ‘let’s settle’. You sign a release and take the money. A week or two later, you can’t get out of bed and are in excruciating pain. You go to the doctor, and he says you have a herniated disc from the car wreck. He tells you that you need surgery and will be off work for three months. You call the insurance company to tell them and they laugh and say ‘Sorry, but you signed a release and we don’t owe you another dime!’. Does this sound unbelievable? Think it won’t happen? WRONG!! It happens!”
“Unfortunately, I have people call me with stories just like this, and I have to tell them ‘Sorry, if you signed a release, there is probably nothing I can do for you!’ You should have gone to see a lawyer first!!!!” “My advice to everybody is ‘Don’t rely on the insurance company to help you. Talk to a lawyer.’”
